Professor Daniele Marchioni is Full Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy, and Director of the Department of Otolaryngology at the University Hospital of Modena.

His clinical and scientific activities are primarily focused on advanced otologic and lateral skull base surgery, with additional expertise in anterior skull base surgery and advanced head and neck oncologic surgery. His work encompasses both microscopic and endoscopic surgical techniques, with a particular commitment to advancing surgical approaches for complex middle ear, skull base, and head and neck pathologies.

He has extensive surgical expertise in the management of vestibular schwannomas and other lateral skull base tumors, ranging from conventional microsurgical approaches to innovative minimally invasive endoscopic techniques. Together with Professor Livio Presutti, he pioneered the development of transcanal endoscopic ear surgery in Italy and contributed to expanding its applications to the lateral skull base. Among his major scientific contributions is the development of the endoscopic transpromontorial approach to the internal auditory canal for the treatment of selected vestibular schwannomas, as well as innovative fully endoscopic approaches for the management of facial nerve tumors.

His current clinical and research interests are particularly directed toward advancing lateral skull base surgery through the integration of microscopic and endoscopic approaches, with the aim of improving surgical access, optimizing functional outcomes, and developing less invasive strategies for the treatment of complex skull base lesions.

Professor Marchioni is a founding member and current President of the International Working Group on Endoscopic Ear Surgery (IWGEES).

He is co-author of the international textbooks Endoscopic Ear Surgery and Endoscopic Lateral Skull Base Surgery, published by Thieme, and has authored numerous scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals. He is actively involved in international surgical education and regularly serves as an invited lecturer and faculty member at international scientific congresses and advanced surgical training courses worldwide.
